These instructions only apply if:

  1. You are plugged into a 4K TV.

    2. AND

  2. This is the very first Software Upgrade being applied to your SHIELD.

    3. AND

  3. You see a black screen after applying the update.

Instructions:

  1. Unplug both the HDMI cable and the Power cable from the back of SHIELD.
  2. After 10 seconds, plug only the power cable back into SHIELD (do not plug in the HDMI cable).
  3. Wait 15 minutes for the Software Upgrade to install.
  4. After 15 minutes, plug the HDMI cable back into SHIELD.

Future software upgrades will not require these steps.
