To navigate through the menus and apps you can use either the SHIELD game controls or the touch screen settings
Most things that can be done on the touch screen can also be accomplished using the SHIELD controls.
NVIDIA Button. Turns SHIELD device ON, displays power menu to turn device OFF, put SHIELD to sleep, or go to Airplane mode. | |
Home Button. Opens the Android Home screen. Double Press to view icons of Recent Apps. Long Press to open Google Now. | |
Start Button. | |
Volume Button. Press to control volume. Press and hold to mute. | |
Back. Jumps to the previous screen or activity. | |
A Button. Activates the selected item in most apps. | |
B Button. Back or cancel in most apps. | |

Y Button. Opens menu in most apps. | |
Left Stick | |
Right Stick. Controls the mouse pointer on your screen. Push the Right Stick to click. You can also use the Right Trigger or A button. | |

There are four basic touch commands used on Android devices:
Tap / Touch (a finger version of a mouse click)
Touch - Hold
Drag: Used in combination with Touch - Hold and Drag
Pinch: Most Android commands are single-finger with the exception of Pinch which requires two fingers.
Boot Up:
Press the NVIDIA button
when the device is powered off to boot the device.
Boot Menu:
Hold down and
, then press
.
Safe Mode:
Hold down volume key, and then press .
Power Menu:
Hold down .
Power Off:
Long hold (6 seconds)
to power off device.
Hard Reset:
Extra long hold (13 seconds) to
hard reset the device.

Home: Press

Recent Apps:
Double-press to list recent apps.
to launch the selected app.
to open exit recent apps.
Google Now:
Long hold to switch to Google Now.
